I'm not sure if there is a problem with the wiper motor, or the way it's hooked up to the manifold. It appears the hose goes from the wiper motor to the intake manifold.

Anyone have a photo I can reference? Thanks,

That is as it should be. If your motor isn't working, the first thing I'd check is if your hose is collapsed inside.

I tested my wiper motor before I had the truck together. I took a funnel, taped a small vacuum hose to the end, turned on the vacuum cleaner and stuck the mouth of the funnel on the metal tube that the attachments go on. The vacuum keeps everything in place. I was able to try all the different functions of the unit.

Thanks for the replies gents. It turns out that the hose was plugged up pretty good. Replaced the hose and the vacuum greatly improved. However the wipers moved slowly, very slowly. I took out the wiper motor and reattached the vacuum hose to the motor and it seemed to work perfectly.

When I installed the motor back in the dash the wipers were still moving very slowly. Is there something I'm missing here, perhaps some sort of adjustment with the arms?

If it works fine out of the dash but poorly in place, it is likely that the seals inside the motor are dried out and blowing by. There needs to be enough spring pressure on the arms to hold the wiper blades against the glass, so it will take some force. The motor has to have good enough "compression" to pull against the wiper arms. Yours either needs lubrication or rebuilding.

My shop manual says to wet the windshield when you do a wiper motor test. You can't expect to sweep dry rubber across dry glass without resistance. For a true test, get out the garden hose and see how it performs. If it is still sluggish, get out your wrenches. Otherwise, wait for the next rainstorm.

No matter what the results, you might as well give it a wash while you're at it. wink

I had the same problem with my wiper motor. Had it out of the truck and everything worked fine and I put it back under the dash board and the thing would barely move the linkage that connected to the wiper arm studs. I'm probably just gonna bite down really hard and buy an electric conversion. Unfortunately they're about 190 bucks from what I've seen.

Make certain you use vacuum hose and not windshield washer hose. The thin wall of the latter will cause it to collapse.
