#33350 07/25/2003 4:36 AM | Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 3 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 3 | hi all, thanks for the welcomes on my intro here comes the first question-my truck is a 51 161"wheelbase which im pretty sure is a two ton,has 20"rims-Just today i noticed there are no shock absorbers! there are also no brackets or obvoius holes where brackets were....did the big ones not use shocks??maybe they were optional?it was delivered new here by holden (GM in australia) ive only driven it around a paddock so far, seemed ok..if no shocks-good!one less thing to buy!! havin a party tommorow and 'the king' as ive named the big 51 will be doin hay ride duty for the kiddies-brm brmmm!  | | |

I can snap a picture if you are interested. They are ugly and I don't know if they make any difference (the truck has excellent road manners, but I hardly ever drive it on the road)

It's choppy with no load, and I've got to be very careful not to send the rear tires into a low orbit on bumpy roads. Toss a few hundred pounds over the rear axle and it rides like a Cadillac on Prozac. | | |

There is enough good in the worst of us and enough bad in the best of us that it does not behoove any of us to criticize the rest of us.

#33355 07/25/2003 10:53 AM | Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 1,586 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 1,586 | My 45 2 ton had wasted single action lever shocks on the front ,none on the back.It was easy to adapt front shocks from a 70-80's Chevy truck, welded up some brackets.Rides the same but maybe bounces just a bit less.There is enough fricton in the spring leaves to make shocks not all that necessary. | | |
#33356 07/25/2003 12:18 PM | Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 3 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 3 | got the king running today and went for a couple of laps round the property,at 30 mph hit a rut and nearly hit the roof!it bounced like crazy so i reckon some brackets off the bottom of the spring shackle and run some tube shocks up to the frame.just the front-the rear is probably not worth it you wouldnt budge that spring pack with 5 ton on it!!
