I have pulled the door panel, window trim, bolts and screws from wing glass. I'm now stuck.
The glass is aftermarket (thin) type. I'm not sure as how to get the bad glass out and get the regulator roller wheel out of the window channel???????????????
Sure could use some help on this. Don't want to cancel a planned trip this comiong weekend....Thanks Brent | | | | Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 | Pull the vent glass and frame up and to the rear to remove.Be sure to mask off the paint to avoid scratches. You should be able to then remove the glass as there is a large hole in the run channel to release it from the roller.I was able to make a new nylon roller from Napa.Get one that is close and trim it down.Hope this helps.

I cannot see any opening in the glass channel (metal channel on the bottom of the door glass) except on each end of the metal channel.I have a new piece of glass cut with a new lower window channel attached. It has no opening except at each end.
I thank you for your help and any follow up you may add. I must admit to being disappointed with the lack of help on this matter. I see posts from time to time asking simple questions such as how may doors did they make AD Chevy trucks have, or who made AD Chevy Trucks and tons of responses show up.
Guess I may just be frustrated, but who cares about how many headlights a AD has, when I need to replace broken glass and there is a lack of help.............Thanks Brent | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 | Originally posted by Trucked Up: I thank you for your help and any follow up you may add. Relax a bit Brent, it's the week-end and it's summer out. Not everyone is sitting in front of their computer waiting to post answers. First thing you need to do, if you haven't already, is remove the wing window assembly completely out of the door. This allows the main window to move forward enough to come off the roller. You may have to roll the regulator up and down to find the right combination to get it free. If you can't get it that way, have someone hold the glass and unbolt the regulator from the door to get you even more movement. Good luck with your project.

There are a few screws across the top that need to come out and 1 bolt at the bottom of the window track. I am pretty sure it is 1/2 inch. You will need to reach as far up in the door you can to reach this or just use an exstension. Then pull the wing window assembly toward the inside and pull out. The with the roll up window about half way up slide it forward and the rear will come out of track....roll the window forward to take the front off the track rollers and lift out | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 428 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 428 | Brent, Let me cheer you up. I am in the process of replacing all the windows and seals on my 52. I have spent close to 300 bucks buying glass. I have broken 3 windshield sections, and as of tomorrow I anticipate the last of the side windows. The first thing I would advise you to do is buy two books. The first is the shop manual and the second is the assembly manual. The reason I suspect you have neither of these is your question. The shop manual quotes "to remove the window glass from the channel squirt gas on both side to soften the seal". I like paint thinner. It works faster, and after it has dried a heat gun applied judiciously will let you remove it easily. Putting a new one in won't be as easy. | | |
