For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 | Alright I started dinking with the radio on my 53'. It has 2 wires coming out of the box. Im assuming both of these are powered? 1 for the lamp and 1 for the radio? Does the box itself act as the ground when bolted to the dash?
Before I rewired the truck it had a faint hum when turned on but not wanting to blow it up I didnt leave it on for long. Ive heard these may need warmup time before working. Id like to see if it actually works before disassembling it.
Thanks in advance. Jeff | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | Ruste, the two wires are indeed as you said. One wire, which should have an inline fuse, is used to power the radio and should be connected to the load side of the amp meter. The other wire should be run to the dash light supply on the headlight control.
There is a tech tip that explains the safe way to test out your radio. I think it might be good to read it before proceeding. | | |
