Hey fellow bolters,
I finally got the new bed installed. It was a longer process than I expected. It originally was going to be temporary (only for a few years till I got around to doing the frame off resto).

I picked up the pine boards at H-Depot, ripped - routed - milled - stained - and sealed them. This was all possible with the help of (of course the Stovebolt Forums) GMCPauls Truck Parts and Mar-K

I posted the pics on my CarDomain Site .
I plan on putting a more detailed doc together for anyone else thinking of taking on this type of project. Just trying to give back a little of what I've taken from this site and all it's knowledgeable members.

Thanks guys/gals,
HC

Great looking bed wood and even better that you did most of it yourself. Good Job!

Hey thanks guys,
Like I said, it's the encouragement and support that helped me through this project. Plus the linked document on bed dimensions and the one from Mar-k on how to find the correct locations for the bed-to-frame bolts.

I also paid an unexpected price at the very end by throwing my back out moving that darn bucket of weights around. I used it to keep everything in place while I was underneath tightening everything up. Worked great too, till I was on the last few bolts - and bang! There goes my back.

The sacrifices we make . . .

I used the Helmsman Spar Urethane and for the stain I used a new one just out called 'Gun Stock' smile

I applied a single coat of stain and three coats of spar top and bottom. The trucks garaged but if it were out in the weather more often, I would've put a few more coats on.
