Just some FYI and maybe disucssion. Jim Merrit sent us some updated pictures of his 1953 Chevy Stovebolt .

He says his is the baby of stakebeds. Most you see are much bigger and wondered if there any other 3600's on the site? He would like to see a nice restored unit.

I've got a 3600 with an aftermarket flatbed. Not the same, but If he's looking for shots of the bed itself, I'll be able to oblige.

It's not exactly what I'd classify as "restored" though.

It's coming off sooner or later and a box is going back on, so I probably won't do anything with it.

Jeff, The duals that were on my flatbed were an aftermarket ad on. I was also told that Chevy did not offer this little flatbed with duals but I'm sure in the day a dealership could bolt some on. The same set up is listed in a JC Whitney catalog today for around $300, mine are long gone. I've seen a couple other flatbed 3/4 tons around, none had duals. I'm planning at some point to copy all this crumbling wood on my stake sides. Lucky to have it for patterns and it's ok for the little use it gets now.

I can make some measurements on my truck if you need, let me know. Also not sure why the email didn't work try me again [email protected]

Jeff, Just made a couple measurements on the 3600 flatbed stake. It appears that the tread (center to center of tire)width in front is just a bit narrower than rear. Front is near 57 1/2", rear 62 1/2", this is kneeling down on one knee with dog licking my ear so may be off a tad. Also wheel base is 125". 8 lug rims, I believe are original 15" split rims.

I have an original 3/4-ton stakebed.
The pictures in the gallery are not too good.
