Man, that would be a scary ride. I envision a crash similar to the earlier two wheeled speed attempts when the bikes started their wobble.

I traced the link back to the inliners site and I guess that picture is in the members only section. I would like to know more about that Chevy. I guessed it has a 302 GMC...wonder how fast it goes? what other mods to the truck? suspension, etc.? I like the retro/rat/rust-rod look.

Mark now holds records in 3 classes. The truck initially ran with a heavily modified 261 at over 125, and is now powered by a 320" 12 Port Wayne/Arias GMC. So Cool!! I'm trying to imagine going that fast in my 50 (if I ever get it going...)

1948 3/4-Ton 5-Window Flatbed Chevrolet 34 Years. Now with a '61 261, 848 head, Rochester Monojet carb, SM420 4-speed, 4.10 rear, dual reservoir MC, Bendix up front, 235/85R16 tires, 12-volt w/alternator, electric wipers and a modern radio in the glove box.

I'm hopin the long tube headers and Purple Hornie mufflers on my 292 will help emulate that sound a bit. The hub caps (moon discs) may not be all that effective as streamining, but they help prevent salt from building up in the wheels and causing balance problems. I'm gonna try running with and without them next year in my 85 Monte Carlo with AFR head 406. It'll be my first time racing on the salt...but ya gotta start somewhere. | | |
