Last week I was working on my 66 GMC with a 305 V6. I was rebuilding the motor with a kit purchased through NAPA. I had miked the crank and checked the bore to find the motor was still stock. I ordered a re-main kit for it and slapped it all together but the crank was super tight after rebuild. Back to the shop I went this weekend and I pulled the main bearings back out. Sure enough- .010 under sized main bearings. Doggone it! Everything else was right, just not the main bearings. Lesson learned- Check all parts before installing. Don't trust your trusty parts man. #15 Michael Waltrip lied- "The right parts at the right price" I don't think so! LOL Anyway, thanks to all of you who replied with help over the past week.

That will teach you to pay attention to what is happening around you and right under your nose grin

There is enough good in the worst of us and enough bad in the best of us that it does not behoove any of us to criticize the rest of us.

Fred T,
I have a different spin on your statement. The School of Hard Knocks happens when the bearings are too loose!
