I have a '51 3/4 ton with a 235 engine. A few days ago I got the strong smell of gasoline while driving and the engine stalled when it idled(something it's never done before). When I got home I opened the hood and saw gas spewing out of the carburator. A couple of days later, and I don't seem to be getting any gas at all. If I pour gas directly into the carb, it starts right up and will run fine (for over half an hour with no gas spewing out of the carb anymore). But when I shut it down and try to start it again, it seems to be starved for gas again. The fuel bowl shows that there is gas in the line.

I tried a different float. I made certain it was adjusted to 1-9/32" and 1-3/4". It is not hitting the sides of the carburetor. I cannot find anything that would be causing it to stick. And the float doesn't have a hole in it either. I've tried two different floats with no success. The problem is intermittent. You never know when its going to happen. Any ideas????
