Hi, I just got a 261 and i've started tearing it apart. This seems like a silly question, but how do i take the oil pump out? I unscrewed the line from the oil pump back into the black, and it won't come out. So, i figured i'd just take the whole pump out. It looks like its held in with 2 bolts through the block, but i cleaned off the head of the bolts and they have round heads! How do I get these suckers outta here!? Thanks!

To remove the pump, you need to loosen the bolt/nut on the inside of that bracket, not the 2 "bolts" on the outside of the block. If you remove these you will only make more problems for yourself in trying to get the pump and distributor to line up.

Get yourself a manual, also.

It's also easier if you remove the distributor first. And get a factory service manual, $30 investment that will save you a lot of time and money.

You would remove it the same way as a 235-CAREFULLY, after reading your said 30.00 service manual, and 1961-62 suppliment.
