It looks like a combination of a 216 (top studs) or a 235. The casting on the block is 3701887. a Canadian motor. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 25 Member | | Member Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 25 | Is there a date casting # such a A81 on the rear of the engine? I have a good selection of books that provide decoding of engine casting #s and date codes for 55 and newer engines. I suspect they used the same methods for identification. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 96 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 96 | Are you sure the number came from the block? The only place I could find that said anything it that "3701887" corresponds to the head off of a 1953 Chevy 235. Hope this helps. -Shane

As far as any other numbers are concerned, the stamping on the right side of the block near the starter is - 0299232T54Z. Remember this is a Canadian blocxk. Thanks guys. | | |
