What is the recommended maximum bore for a 235 ... is .080 ok for a daily driver?
..... or should I just start searching for another 235 or a 261. The 848 head on my 235 is in very good shape, per the machine shop.
I have all the external parts for the 235, including flywheel, bellhousing, starter, etc. Can those be used on a 261 if I find one? | | |

I wouldn't do it to a hard working truck though. You'll end up with cooling problems. Lots of metal in 235's and I have seen them 120 over, but I sure wouldn't go that far. If you take good care of your engine you will have no problems. The crank can go to at least .020 over. About your second question- YES!!!

But since these engines are so old now, rust and corrosion have eaten at the water jacket side of the cylinder wall. Its best to have any block sonic checked for wall thickness when boring above .060". Cheap insurance before you go ordering special pistons, rings, balancing, boring, etc, just to find out you've struck water or warped a cylinder.
