For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 6 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 6 | I just bought a 1966 Suburban in running but rough condition from a guy in Virginia. It's a inline 6 (250, I think) with a converted-to-floor-shift 3 speed. The linkage is all messed up (hard to find any gear but 3rd) so that will be the first thing to tackle, so I can at least drive the thing. Here is a link to some off-site pictures. . I think they're supposed to be added to the gallery here soon. This is the first Chevrolet truck I've owned, and will be the most complicated project I've ever attempted. The main reason I bought this vehicle was for a project for my two sons (12 & 14) and myself. I've been a car-guy all my life, having owned '64 and '69 Impalas and a '72 Camaro in the GM family. My favorites are '61 - '64 Impalas and Belairs (couldn't afford any of those, though). I'll probably pop in here with various stupid questions, but I'll try to use the search feature first. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 | Welcome, your rig looks good. I'm looking for a set of 15x7s front and rear for my '62, but I like you're slightly wider ones in the rear...Hmmmmmmmm

If I was to a point of changing wheels, I'd gladly sell them to you, but I have nothing else to put on the 'burb right now. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 35 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2005 Posts: 35 | I am also a new owner of a 1966 burb. Looks like we have a similar project.
Mine use to be an old school bus from rural Kansas. Had original title to it. It is in great shape. Just need those darn sliding window locks is all.
Want a 350 and 700R4 in it. Want it lowered a little bit too. Oh well just thoughts for now.
Good luck on the project. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 6 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 6 | I saw your pics in the gallery before I bought mine. Nice!
My burb turned out to be a rust bucket, so I am evaluating whether to keep it or try to find something else. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 35 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2005 Posts: 35 | I got my Burb for the dirt low price of $350. Yeah you read right. The trans was out of it and had a couple of broken windows.
Replaced front windshield. And can't get the 250 to ignite! Other than that it was really straight with very little rust.
Have original 1966 title too.
Should be an easy resto. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 6 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 6 | Great price... mine runs (but there's some sort of transmission problem which I haven't figured out yet), and I paid $1100. | | |
