I have a '51 GMC panel, with vent windows. I also have a 47 1/2 parts truck with one piece windows.
Is it possible to remove the 'guts' from the doors of each to convert my 51 panel doors to one piece windows ?
A door swap isn't a good option in this case.

He has done this conversion. You have the best of both worlds here in that you have both sets of doors. However I believe the regulators both mount the same way with 3 screws but I could have forgotten, its been a while. The later regulator is shorter because the glass is not as long.
There is a difference in the sheet metal on the door as well. For instance there is a notch on the later door for the vent window rear frame as well as on the window trim.

A few holes need to be drilled for the different 50 window regulator,a small notch needs to be cut to clear the vent window arm.And maybe a bracket needs to fabbed up,it was 10 years ago,the small details are a little foggy.Anyways,it was easy to do with common hand tools ,just compare doors to see what needs to be done. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 67 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 67 | Thanks Guys, I like the look and fewer seals etc. of the one piece window.
