The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Panels 'N Burbs Value of a '64 4X4

This is going to be a tough question to answer, but here goes. What is a '64 Suburban 4X4 worth? I had two hunters ask me yesterday if I would sell my '64 Suburban. I said that it was not for sale. The driver said, "Hey, talk to me. What will you take for it". Rusty Rods said that I should have quoted some ridiculous price. But, what would that have been? I do not have any pictures yet, but here is a brief description. Paint is very good. Engine is a 350 with Holly 4 barrel. 4 speed trans. Body is solid with no rust. Everything on the 'Burb works. Runs great. Has two seats. Floor and engine bay have some rust. I had it appraised by a used car dealer for insurance purposes. He looked at the book value for '64 Suburbans in Wyoming and gave me a written appraisal of $8500.
Does that value seem reasonable? I spent a lot of time looking for '64-'66 'Burbs on the net. Only found 1 4X4 for sale in Montana. Price $14500. There was only one picture of that truck, exterior. It did not look as good as the one I have. So, does anyone have any ideas about values of this truck?

I have never found any one that could give me a good answer other than they are rare .I have had my 61 4wd since 1988 and I would base it on what ever some one is willing to pay.Before I got my garage built mine sat outside and everyone including the local duck hunter wanted to buy it to store decoys to a guy willing to trade a 2 yr old car for it, until I found out his dad owned the car.
This forum has mostly 2wd but an occasional 4wd pops up.I would like to see a picture if you can send it my way.

Your truck's value also depends on the pieces involved. You said you have a 350, but what are the axles, transfer case and transmission? If it is a NAPCO upfit check with their site:

bunch of great guys with lots of knowledge. Bottom line is pretty hard to pin down, what some one is willing to pay for it would be the value at the time.

As far as I know the running gear is all original. Dana 44-5F on the front. I assume the truck is not a NAPCO since there is an old decal behind the rearview mirror that shows shifting pattern for the transfer case.
