Hi All,
It's time to consider sound deadening and insulation for my 54 panel. I have read most of the info on this site but have specific questions with regard to panels. What can be done for the rear doors and those enclosed compartments forward and rear of the wheel wells? As always, Thanks.

On my roof I'm using owens Corning 703. It's what we use in recording studios to kill sound. You can find it at an insulation distributor but not at your nieghborhood lowes/home depot. Thios stuff is 1" or 1 1/2" thick and really does the job.

You could try the spray on Lizard Skin. I'm considering it myself.

how to:
http://www.ehow.com/how_11208_sound-deaden-car.html
there are several types of materials and costs involved here. what's right for your budget??

products avail:
http://www.ehow.com/ehow_radlinks_a...7CCar%20Sound%20Deadening%7CRoad%20Noise

b quiet is one
http://www.b-quiet.com/

dynamat is the one that i have used along with the double sided aluminum insulation.
http://www.dynamat.com/

note:

the single or double sided aluminum composit material has a 1/4 - 5/16'' jute material type inner and is an insulation mostly type product. yes it does cut noise but these other two type products, dynamat and b quiet stick /adhear to the sheet metal and cut the vibration. using this type material, you do not have to completely cover the metal panel, maybe half, or sections as when you cover the roof. long 6'' strips work every 10-12'' apart.
i put the jute material over the sound deadening stuff (cause it's very expensive).

I used Lizard skin on my pick up project to stop heat from coming in and heat going out. I was totally amazed by the before/after results. It works. Atfer 2-3 coats, I used the Dynamat to stop vibes and noise from coming and going ( in/out). After that I used the aluminum faced felt to insulate and to offer some pad for carpeting. After all thius the cab is like a Caddy. It is overkill to most, but I planned this project as a total creature comfort machine.
The aluminun mastic materielafrom HD/Lowes is called "Peel and Stick" and is used for heating/cooling sheet metal applications. It will stop some noise and vibration and some heat loss. It can be used in areas where there will be heat from sun, engine trans etc. The smell will dissipate in a few days. It is a great low cost alternative to the products. On the flooring you will still want the felt products over any of the other products. The Liz is 180.00 for 2 gallons and cleans up with water. It is similar to " Cool Car" I did a heat test on the Liz skin and burned my under cab paint waiting for the inside cab floor to heat up. More interesting parts to the story on request.
