The worst thing you can do is take a photo in partial shade. The camera will not know whether to expose for the bright areas or for the dark areas. If you must take a photo in mixed lighting conditions, be sure to use your fill flash. If you don't know how to select it on your camera, read the book that came with it. If you have a choice full shade is better than partial shade. Take photos when it is raining a little and there will be no shadows. You get nice even exposure and the vehicle will really shine with a little water on it. If you are out in the sun, always try to shoot the side exposed to the sun. Don't get me wrong, My pictures aren't perfect but the better you do, the more people will enjoy looking at them. Shade or sun, try to get a shot that has uniform lighting.

They will all be in the notebook within a few months I hope. It is slow work scanning them in. I would like to post some of them but I have two problems. The notebook is not on line and I don't have the technical savvy to post them. Sorry about that but it is hard for an old dog to learn new tricks. Catch me at a show sometime and we'll have a long look.

The manual settings solve this problem if you have the time and patience to study and experiment which I don't. I found I get the best results on the white vehicles when it is lightly overcast or the sun even behind a cloud. Shoot in full sun and the white paint will have a bluish tint to it.
