Serial Number

We can't quite figure out the numbers as they don't seem to follow the US serial numbers.

The 46 Chevy

My neighbour sent me an email, "know any one that is interested ????" with the truck pic. I started drooling like Homer Simpson uttering the word C.h.e.v.y. It's been sitting in a barn and the old farmer is selling the farm. Now my neighbour and I just need to get it shipped from Regina, SK to Vancouver, BC. Anyone have suggestions for shipping?

I was going to U-haul it from Regina to Calgary with the 58 Chevy but I'm not quite sure the 58 will tow it. Going through BC with it on a U-haul car trailer wouldn't be too smart.

61314 6 is the year 1946, 13 is 1300 model, 14 is half ton pickup and the other numbers in that serial are production numbers. In the USA 1300 is 3100.
I never knew that there was a model 1300 in 1946 but now I do.
My Canadian 49 is 91314....

Thanks! Any help on the rest of the numbers on the plate is appreciated. We're suspecting the "spec" for special on the paint might be because it was a highways truck.

It's only two days drive there and two days back.

Beg, borrow or steal a truck and a flatdeck and go get it.

This past Easter, I drove from Calgary to Swan River, Manitoba to go pick up a 1959. A friend and I did the trip in two days (24 hours of driving).

I took me a couple of days to recover but it was quite an adventure!

If you contact GM Canada [email protected] you can get a hisotical vehicle report that will help in decipheing your VIN. It costs $35.00. Information may not be quite as complete as US vehicle reports but it does answer many of your questions.

I have a 46 I bought 3 years ago in Moose Jaw, just west of Regina. The info on the Serial number is correct and I might add that that particular truck was built in Oshawa Ontario. Through finding an old ice scrapper stuck in the defroster duct I figured out my'n was purchased from a Pontiac dealership in a small town west of here. The dealership and the town are no more but it was a farm truck as I took about five pounds of chicken feathers and hay out behind the panel in back of the cab. There's a large Hudderite colony there that raises chickens so I assume that's where it came from. Hope you can get it hauled to BC. Good Luck. Bob T in the Jaw

The 46 has already been taken to Regina and put in storage. I'm just not crazy about driving across the praries in snow drifts.

Bobt - there's a second 46 that's partially there - need any parts? We were trying to get that one back too but the farmer isn't too keen on people he's not familiar with going on his property. My neighbour's cousin is going back for parts from the second 46.

I have all the parts I need OldBlue, a lot I got from the Winnipeg area but there is a few Art Decos around out here. There must be a few commercial outfits around here that will haul it to BC for you but I imagine there pretty expensive. Good luck in getting it to BC. The condition it looks in maybe you can get it running and drive it out.
