Jul 21st, 2025 | | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 16 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 16 | G'Day from OZ. i have just obtained 2 mid 40's Chev Trucks / Pick up's. one a 46 styleside and a 47 styleside that has been hacked at the back of the cab! bouth these need some TLC and i guess i got my work cut out for me,but that's half the fun. i couldnt help noticeing that the 46 & 47 Chevs are really different to the Aussie Chev / Gm. if i could figure out how the hell to post pic's i'd wack a few up for all to check,im struggling to find Pictures of these. :hammering: thay have the same frounts guards as the 46 / 47 Chev Sedans :confused: i can tell you that much,but other than that info is scarce. Sounds like you have a project with the primary problem, "parts". It's good you have two that way you have a donor. I would spend my time looking for vendors down there. I'm sure they would be quite expensive to ship from the states.

You're gaing to love this game I've been in it a few years now and I can tell you mate, it gets pretty scary and folks in town look at you like you're going crazy. Recently my old engine died and I hadn't finished wiping the tears from my eyes when all fo a sudden I got an email from these pages telling me there's a bloke in Alice Springs has a 52 Chevy motor for sale. I only got back last week, clocked up 4,325 kliks and paid just a little money for the motor. Its been fully reconditioned by South Australia Engineering and its looks brand-new inside and out. While I was there, couldn't help myself, I bought a '46 five window styleside utility for $500, still in its WW2 suit, sitting out there in a shed in the desert -no rust, she's totally complete, engine runs with good compression. Well, you're a brother when you are in here mate.
I bought her about four years ago as a keeper in case I wanted to pull the chassis out and use the independent front suspension.
Othe than that, there's little else I can use.
She's standing on her wheels, all the glass is present and she would probably skull drag onto a trailer no worries.
The dash isn't excellent, the remains of the seats and springs are there, no engine or gearbox, I have the complete horn assembly hardware I took off it two years ago, but you can have those as well.
I'll get over there tomorrow and take some pics.
So now she's yours and the body is complete from the firewall, two good doors, and the stylside and rear gate (which still has its Chevy script writing on it.(Cuppla dings in it).
She'll take a bit of working up, but would be better than buggerising around building some kinda back on a sawn off-ute body.
Why anyone would want to hack the back off, I can't imagine except to make a crappy trailer.
Don't be amazed these things turn up out of nowhere, its scary, happens all the time in this game.
I just appreciate all of the help and free spare parts people have gifted to me over the last four years.
Good to give something back.

Looks like your going great guns in your restoration. I've been a bit busy with work to too involved. Tho i'm taking some holidays soon to finish off the cab and bring her home. I'll post some more pic's soon.
I have the old motor and box out of my girl if anyone in oz is interested. The gearbox has a air-compressor fitted on the side (obviously not for my truck). This could have come from a tipper. (yes i know this should be posted on the parts section)
Hopefully i will get to meet you guys on a street run up your way. The wife is keen to go cruising.
