I have a 1950 3600 with 4 speed manual transmission. I rebuilt all 4 drum brakes and was plannig on adding a brake booster and new cylinder. Such as those upgrade kits offered for 47-53 chevy trucks in various catalogs. I am currently under the impression those kit application are for automatics and will not clear my transmission/bellhousing.

Any body got a frame mount booster with manual trans?

If I'm persistent could the unit be moved back farther for clearance and use a longer push rod?

Otherwise, is all this not worth the gains?

Please help advise me before my purchase.
thanks.....Dana

Hy Shellology, I succesfully installed a dual master cylinder/booster into a 52 3800, I had to trim the parking brake band a little bit for clearance. I had to modify the supplied mounting bracket [ it wouldn't have fit anyway ]. I also put the same type of setup in a 47 1/2 ton panel with a 3 spd., I had to modify that mounting bracket as well, those brackets don't seem to be very well designed, hope that helps.

I've got a booster from a mid 70's truck and dual res master under the floor. I have a V-8 with it's bell housing and have no clearance problems. I'm using the original location and linkages too. It's on my 1.5 ton truck.
If you stay with the single pot master, you could go the hydra-vac route,
Scott

Thanks fella's,

Sounds like I might have to customize no matter what or might not, just depends.
Is everybody happy with booster upgrades and is there any downsides?
I might just try this. I could modify a bracket if needed. Ofcoarse then I will also need to custom do my lines. Sounds like a little set back but it may be worth it. What ya think.
