I previously posted my frustrations with getting a windshield installed in our '54.
Here is the original discussion. . Well, hooray! This weekend my dad and I got the windshield installed. It looks great, and we can finally get our plates for it (not registering as a historic vehicle).
So thanks for the advice that you all contributed. The only embarrassing installation note is that we did use water-based personal lubricant. My wife and mother were quite amused.

picture 1 picture 2 We have a car show next weekend (our first) and this windshield was the last thing we needed to do in order to get plates so we could drive in the cruise. I'm interested to see what other car nuts think of our old beater--she's got some patina, but she's road worthy!
