| | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 5 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 5 | Greetings, I have a 1951 3100 PU, installed dual carbs on a offie intake manifold and the back carb sits just where the fender support rod goes, can I get away with not having the support rods (the rods that run from the firewall to the inside of the fender)? I have seen some trucks that elected not to use the rods because something got in the way and other guys that say they have to be there. I know they were designed to be there BUT, can a person SAFELY not use them?

That would be my approach to the problem. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 | Lloyd, the rods serve two funtions, if you have the radiator support with the single "center" mount the rods keep it level, but I think the main purpose is for adjustment/alignment of the fenders/aprons. I know it helps keep the hood and fenders from hitting. Just my 2 cents
