The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area General Truck Talk Advice on Brakes

I am in the middle of doing the brakes on the 3600 1952. I am guessing these are the huck style brakes. Anyway, Removing the shoes looks like its goon be kinda tough. The shoes attache to the baking plate via 1 pin and I guesss a c clip or e clip, how do I detach the spring hold downs. I know on samller trucks and cars with drums you can use the special brake tool and push the spring in and turn and it comes right off, however these springs are heavy duty, can;t hardly push them in, and I think they may also have an e clip or clip on them.

Also Napa sold me the wrong shoes part 141, I thik they may fit the front though I don't have the front apart yet.

Napa did get me the correct wheel cylinder kits though.

any help would be apperciated, I did do a search but didn;t see much in realtion to dismantling these brakes.

Ok the shoes are off nothing a little convincing with a hammer and a screwdriver couldn;t do. But Now I have a prblem with the shoes, wrong shoes, nobody has the right shoes in town. :o

Take them to a truck center and see if they can reline them. The cost is about the same as replacements, if you can find them,

Ok that was gonna be next I can't find a darn thing anyplace on any of the parts links or the raybestos site for Hucks brakes for a 3/4 ton or 3600 1952. This is the last year for Huck Brakes and only on the 3/4 ton.
