What are the differences between the 48-55 1st and a TF truck? Will the early tank fin into a TF truck? I notice the earlier tank has a bottom feed and the TF tank feeds from the sender assembly. If the earlier tank will fit into a TF truck, I would like to change the feed from 5/16 to 3/8. Also what are the differences in the senders? The previous owner installed a plastic fuel cell under the bed and it fills with water during heavy storms. I'm done with the fuel cell :mad: .

(as in I don't think they can be swapped at all)
Someone verify this. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 513 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 513 | no they will not fit, the gas line (tank to carb)comes into the bottom a tank a couple of inches in difference from the TF to the AD, and the filler necks are at different heights. i bought a new tank for a 55-59 and found all this out after looking at putting it in my 49.

I noticed that there is a fuel tank drain at the bottom of the tank. Has anyone tried soldering a 6AN fitting to the bottom of the tank and using 3/8 braided hose to the fuel pump? I know the sender hole is the same size as the autometer sender that is used in the JAZ fuel cells, so installing a sender without the pickup tube is not an issue.
