Need some advice about putting a Chevy S-10 chassis under a 46 1/2 ton short bed pickup.

I will be using 350 SBC with a th400 transmission.

I would like to know some of the problems. I think I am going to cut the 46 frame in front of and behind the cab. I will use the front and rear parts of the S-10 frame and suspensions.

Does anyone have experience with this idea?

Frank,

The only conversions I have seen on here use the whole S-10 frame. As I recall, the wheel base is about right. All you need to do is make brackets to support everything.

After having my 46 down to the frame, I don't know that the section you are leaving helps you enough to make it worth keeping. My $.02 would be to keep the S-10 frame in one piece and use as is. Keep the 46 frame in one piece and use it to determine what needs to go where etc.

Also, use the search function above...there should be quite a number of topics on here regarding S-10 swaps.

46in progress, thanks, after a little research I've decided to keep the s-10 frame intact. This is going to be exciting. LOL

Do worry about that. I've done alot of research and only found one item that discussed it. The photos were pretty good, but.....

So I plan on documenting the build.
