I like the "Tonneau Masters" covers that are hinged about 8" back from the front. They will only custom make a fixed cover, so I was thinking about buying a full sized late model cover, cutting down the frame to fit...working up my own method of fastening down the front or hinged area (no internal lips on 54 bed) and having the cover cut down at a local canvas shop.
If any of you have bought or fabricated a hinged bed cover I sure would appreciate your input. BTW...I have a custom soft cover from Checker on my other truck but they are no longer making the soft covers and they need 4-6 weeks to deliver their custom hard cover. I need it sooner!
Thanks in advance,

There are some slight differences in the bed side stampings but all will fit. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 1,317 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 1,317 | Thanks guys! Only problem is that most all the applications are for 82 and up. However, I'm going to use a later model application which is the correct length and cut the frame down to fit the width of the bed. Will have the cover narrowed at a local boat cover/canvas shop. Will have to fabricate some mounting clamps as there is no internal lip for conventional clamping systems.
The frames are just extruded aluminum with slip-in corner reinforcements. Gotta measure 3 times and cut once....not looking for hard cover security, just enough to keep the bed contents relatively dry while on the road. Will let you know how it works out.

Thet cost about $370 and fits Fleetside trucks. I am thinking about buying one if I can't find a fiberglass cover. LMC's website is LMCtruck.com. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have a source for the hard covers that will fit my 62 /2 ton short bed fleetside Chevy.
