At the risk of sounding "greener" than i am cabbage looking could any of you fine people tell me if i was to purchase a '58 or '59 stepside would i be able to change the front clip i.e fenders, hood, grille e.t.c. thereby finally getting my much wanted '55-'57 or is this considered a big no no. The reason i ask is that they('58-'59)seem to come up for sale down here in oz alot more often and i want one that bad i have looked into repoduction panels to "convert" one but i am not sure as to their quality or if it is even possible.looking forward to any coments, thanks guy's and gal's ohwell

it can be done, but you'll need to fiddle the hood hinges where they bolt to the firewall because the bolt holes are slightly different, and the frame has to have about 2" cut off the front and the bumper mount holes redrilled - I can supply more detail if you find yourself there - this truck is on a 58 frame

Cheers red58 love the truck i fear the only way that i will ever own one of these great trucks is to do as you have done,it's not that i dislike the '58-'59 shape but i just prefer the earlier one's i wish i could undwerstand why myself, it would be easier if i didn't NEED one so bad i am part way there as for some 14yrs i have had a stepside tray on a locally manufactured pickup ( we call them a ute, short for utillity)a hybrid (read oddity)if u like ,i should get busy and post some photos im certain not many of the bolters would have seen one.I have noticed in another section of the forum pages they metion our G.M.H.(General Motors Holden)or Holden as we call them, thanks again

Just fix up a 58-59 until the right 55 comes along. You never know, it might grow on you and you'll want to keep it (too). I never pass up a chance to buy another truck!
