It ran fair, but was hard to start and keep running until it warmed up. The choke was not hooked up, but in Texas a choke in not always needed. I rebuit the carb (Holley 600), put in new spark plugs, and adjusted the timing. Now I just get in, pump the accelerator once, hit the key and the engine purrs to life. Runs great!!! I also recharged the A/C, replaced the broken driver's window regulator, and new window weather stripping. I also replaced the hose between the gas filler and the tank (it was split). Voila, no more gas fumes in the cab. I've been driving it nearly every day, and will soon put the power steering kit on it. The rear brakes were also sticking, so I replaced the flexible line at the rear and the problem went away. I guess the hose had collapsed and was acting as a one-way valve, not releasing the pressure to the brakes. I doubt your son-in-law will ever get his hands back on that truck - sounds like you're enjoying it too much for that. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 172 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 172 | | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 76 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 76 | Thats a good looking truck, have fun with it.
