In my 1953 I have the standard heater. I have the Ranco temperature valve and control rod, nob and bracket. Is a Deluxe Heater an option for the 53, and what are the components that are needed beyond the heater and the temperature control valve. Or should I sell the temp control and just leave the heater in place. My truck is still 6V. Thanks,

| | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 324 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 324 | Mike the deluxe heater had a vent that pulled in fresh air for the heater. The standard heater just heats the recirculated air in the cab.
The deluxe heater was a option in 53. If you have a deluxe heater I would use the parts you have. If you have the standard heater I'm not sure what good the valve and rod assy. will do for you.
Tom | | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 422 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 422 | Mike, there were three types if heaters for the ADs... "Re-circulating", "Fresh Air" and "Deluxe". The re-circulating did just that, re-circulated the air, the fresh air pulled fresh air into the heater, the deluxe had an option to pull fresh air or just recirculate. The "Deluxe" was first introduced in 1953.
The temp control was used on the "Fresh Air" and "Deluxe".
You probaly have the "Fresh Air" heater. | | |
