I had a 1946 Texas License Plate on my 46 Chevy truck. I just walked out of my office and notice it was gone. I had just had it refurbished. It may have come off or it might have been stolen.

Is there some place I can find either a replacement, I do know the number, or is there someone that sell old plates and again it has to be for 1946 Texas. the old plates were black with white letters

Thanks,

you could probably find one at a swap meet, might run 100 bucks or so.....was the one stolen on the front or the back? I know it is against the law to not run one on the front but I have done it for yrs without a probably.. you might try that..

Why would someone do that? Why? If you call the police they could be on the lookout for it.

Also, check eBay for your plate. A lot times people who steal this stuff end up trying to sell it for a quick buck. You may find your plate there and notify eBay that it is stolen merchandise.

While I'm not sure I don't think the plate was stolen. I only had one plate and the DMV let me register it. If it did come off the truck it happened between Wharton and El Campo, TX. Trying to find it would be like finding a needle in a haystack. I just had the plate refinished and it was like new!

Time to stop crying and find another one!

If anyone has any leads on a 46 Texas Plate, please drop me a line!

that may be a little hard or costly to replace, i have the actual 1949 kansas plate that was put on my 1949 3600 when it was first bought, i don't leave it on the truck anymore, i did when i first got the truck, but i don't trust people who try to get through life using a "five fingered discount", mine sits in my dad's bar in his basement kind of fits in better down with sports stuff anyway

I retraced my Drive to El Campo and found nothing. It's gone! Sad because the plate was the one on the truck when it was in a magazine article.

I only need one plate on the truck, not two!

Oh well now I need to find another and I have to call the DMV tomorrow!

Sorry to hear about your plate. I would keep watching ebaY for the quickest way to find a new plate. What is happening to the Rosanky Swap Meet?

Just found an original AZ 39 plate. I'm thinking that with the value of that kind of stuff to "collectors", I'm going to keep it off the truck except on those rare occasions when I show it. I've got AZ historic tags on it now and they keep it street legal. They've got 15 years worth of stickers on the plate showing the expiration and I don't want to do that to a real historic tag.

Good luck on a replacement. I hope you find another nice set of Texas '46's.

The Rosanky Swap Meet has been held anually in Rosanky, TX just southwest of Austin. But, it sounds like it is being discontinued. I have no idea why.

Jeremy, there is a 46 single plate and that's all I need if I can ge the guy in Galveston to write me a note. I do want the plate! And for 46 one plate is all you need.

I hope I can get this one! We'll see. Thanks for the leads from all of you! It's not over yet!

I have also found one in San Antonio, but I'm afraid to ask the price.

Hey Dan...
give me the license plate # and I will be checking the North Texas Swap-meets as well as E-Bay. If I find it I will buy it and send her to ya.

Cliff,
My old plate was a 1946 Texas truck plate. What made it special was it was the original plate with the truck. I had just had it restored, and the truck was in a magazine called Pickups and Panel Trucks back around 1995 and I have the magazine! Oh well.

The plate number was NF 4420 and it is registered with the DMV. I have enclosed some pictures of the plate and my truck in another email direct to you!

I have found a plate and at present I have it won. I know of a guy in San Antonio that has three plates. One is for a car, one is a truck plate and he even has a Farm Truck plate. His price is $275. A bit more than I’m going to pay! I’ll see if I get the plate online first and maybe I can do some kind of swap with him. For $275 I’ll keep the $5 replacement plate I just bought.

I really wish someone could make reproduction plates of my original. The plate I had with the article made it worth so much more! That’s life.

If you see something at a reasonable price give me a call!

I’ll be going to the NHRA Nationals in Houston Friday, a car show in Rosenberg Saturday and to Fayetteville Sunday to check the cattle.

Give me a call. I have sent you my phone numbers in the other email!

Thanks!
