the inside of the bed on my 51 is pretty rough so i would like to hide it does anyone make a bed cover for a 51 3100? :confused:

I'm sure someone does, but then you have to ask, whether or not you want holes in your truck for the required snaps?

On my previously owned 52, the prior owner made his own. It covered up the "shot" bedwood very nicely. To Boot, it was fairly cheap to make.

He built a frame (bed height) with an upright in each corner. Then he placed a sheet of plywood on top of the frame. Covered that, glueing some 1/4 (or so) foam on top, then covered the foam with vinyl.

The whole unit sat in the bed of the truck, covering up the ugly bed, yet was easily removed, if and when I wanted to haul anything.

I think I may have some pictures around, if it would be of any interest to you. There's one small one kinda showing what I'm talking about at the bottom of the gallery page.

Joker beat me to it! I've seen the silver truck with the purple flames up close, Gaylord's makes fine products. Unfortunatly, they don't have anything for longbed trucks that are that old.

pretty sure classic truck shop orange do covers

i would like to have one for my 54 like the one i saw on a newer truck which was in sections so i could take it off and store in the bed if i had to haul something tall. ron

I built a cover for my 55-2 out of 3/4 plywood two hinge's at front and used a bed rail wire weld to side of bed for the plywood to lay on••• it will bow over time i found out ha (Like i should have knew that)!! put a support side to side on the back 1/3
and a partition with two doors that swing out to each side and a latch to keep them closed then i can put some thing long in the bed if need be and other wise closed off and put ice chest tool box what ever in the very back with a lid ......i used
a piano hinge for the back cover .
used carpet foam no need to glue it just pull the vinyl tight and stapel it . put wood sealer over the plywood the wife i just redone the back part.. better this time it got sealer and paint!! ..put drawer pulls on to lift with the front 2/3 is heavy .. i want my cover fastened down because i roll it on down the highway .

I've used a company called "Checker" for their "Checkmate" soft bed cover. Sent them the dimensions and they fabricated the frame to fit my specific bed. You assemble it. All the components are included, their service was great and the cost was under $200. Obviously you aren't going to get Gaylord quality for that low price, but it's a good alternative to the higher priced units and it's custom-made to fit your specific application. Hope this helps.
