| | | | Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 98 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 98 | Looked at a '64 stepside locally the other day and where the heater/defrost controls are it just had a plate with a pull knob in the middle of it.Thiught this was some homemade job until I just seen a couple on ebay with the same thing.I figure it's just pull out the knob and you have 1 speed and it comes from the defrost and heater.Is this correct?

Pull the knob out to open a door in the heater assembly, and turn the knob clockwise to turn on the blower motor. There should be three speeds for the blower fan. There also is a lever for "HEAT" and "DEFROST" on the heater assembly below the dash on the passenger side.

It was the standard option heater. Turn the knob to the right for fan speed, there are 3 of them. Pull it out for temperature and the defroster is a handle under the dash passenger side that says "DEFROST" with an arrow pointing up and "ON" next to it.

I have a blower and direction lever. One controls the blower and the other is for heat or defrost. I have never seen the knob type, but it sounds interesting.
