Got a new rear end for my 49. I have read that someone just switched the rear springs end for end to center the new rear in the fenders. The measurements are perfect. But it looks like the spring eyes are different bores. How Do I correct this?

Spring eyes are bushed. Your bushings may be more wallered out on one end than the other giving the appearance of a bigger hole. The bushings probably need replacing after 50+ years anyway.

Originally the springs eyes are the same size. If they are worn badly you may have to go with new springs. As long as they fit a little snugly you shouldn't have a problem.

I did just what you describe, reversed the springs to center the wheel in the fender opening. I pounded out the bushings from the spring eyes and reversed them.

Problem solved. I swapped the bushings (they were in great shape) and they went back in like a charm. Centers the new axle perfectly. Thanks for the help. :p
