Has anyone ever heard of STA tires? They make bias ply for the truck but I have no idea about their quality and such.

I had not heard of the tires, but did a google and found a link.

Coker sells STA tires. They have one called the Super Traxion LT Bias that I really like the tread on. They don't sell direct tho, only thru authorized dealers. I wanted to get two 7.00-15's for my 50 but there was no dealer close, so I ordered 2 Power King's from the local Neal Tire and I should get them Sat.

I asked about these tires some time ago. I too need a set for my truck. I need 6 700-18 and the selection for that size is really limited. Firestone makes a 700-18 but has a car style design and I too like the tread on the STA (also called Highway brand). They are IMPORTED so I don't know if I would trust them to haul any kind of weight (other than rice if you know what I mean). I would love to find an American made 700-18 truck style tread if anybody has a source.

On the STA website they show 7.00-18's in their Super Transport LT Bias tube type part no LA5J9. Coker sells the same 7.00-18 for 118.00 each + freight. Good luck!)

Cooper tire makes a radial light truck tire in a 16 and 16.5 SRM Radial LT They also have an economy road tire Road tire and a nice aggressive tread Traction Has anyone had experience with these?

No experience with the SRM...but I am running the Discovery LT 215/85/16. Nice aggressive tread, old-style blackwall. Original rims and tubeless = great radial ride.

I picked up my 7.00-15 Power King Super Traction LT D/8 Bias tires. They look great. I love the deep mud/snow tread. I guess Cooper makes or owns half of the tire brands sold. These Power Kings are marketed under the Multi-Mile and Sigma brands which are both Cooper brands. olblu49 and 55 1st I hope you find the tires you want.
Edit - I took a close look at my Power Kings and they are marked "Made in China"

STA is a manufacturer of tires, they make tires for Coker and Universal among others, you have to buy tires from a dealer unless you are a dealer than you can buy from them. STA makes most if not all of the Military NDT and NDCC tires, and on the request of dealers (Coker, Universal) they will put the "F" script (for Firestone) in the mold.

I have a tire balance question: Are all tires marked at the recommended location of the valve stem? I heard or read that sometime. Both of these tires have a white inked circle with a C in it. I'm guessing thats straight across from the heaviest section of the tire. Right??

Blue 50 with regards to your radials. Are you running them onthe stock 4" wide rims? That is the problem I've had. No one will install them on my rims.

Yea I know....have followed the problems you've had. I have had no problems with anyone in my area turning me down due to original rim width. When I bought my tires, I went to three dealers looking at different brands, treads, etc and when they came out to look at the truck all agreed they could install them and run tubeless.


At the time I had some split rims on the back only and was told I had to run radial tubes in the rear only...I had more problems with the tubes going flat, so I ended up replacing them with with stock non-split rims....no problems.

This multi-unit dealer that I use also handle large trucks and ag equipment. Don't know if that would make adifference or not. Good Luck.
