I would put a radial on it but nothing extremely wide. A normal 6" rim is all a 1 ton will take before there are interference problems. It may sound like splitting hairs here but by 7", I take it that you are talking about inside bead surface, side to side, not the outer lip. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 1,317 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 1,317 | I have run a 15 X 8" rim with 4" backspacing with a 235/70/15 tire on my 54-3100 with stock tie rod ends. Had 5/8-3/4" clearance from ends.
Wound up with the same tire on a 15 X 7 w/4" BS rim and upgraded tie rod ends. Noted 1" clearance. Tire is centered in wheel well and have noted no interference with tie rods ends. The 16 x 7" rims that I have have a backspacing that interferes with the tie rods. I think that they are off an 80s Chevy pickup. Now the 16 x 6" rims that I have leave about a 1/4" clearance to the tie rod ends. | | |
