I'm going with a 1987 blazer tank in my 51 under the bed behind the axle.

Has anyone done this already and if so do you have or know of pictures of the install ?

25 gallon. There is a 40 gallon tank, but it hangs too low.

About how close is your tank from the ground ? I priced out a Aluminum tank and intank fuel pump and WOW $$$$. So I got a 1987 blazer 25 gallon/fuel pump. I think work out fine
Thank again

I used a 26 gallon military Blazer tank. There were no issues with ground clearance at all.

In this photo the tank appears to be a tad low. However, that was before other suspension operations. I keep the bottom of the fuel tank no lower than 1-foot above pavement. If more weight, I just add air pressure to the air-shocks. Now, the truck looks right with the higher rear end because I raised the front end with Pro-Comp leaf springs, so the bed is more-or-less level.

As I think I mentioned previously, my mechanical fuel pump pulls fuel all the way from the rear tank with no problem.

I would like to add a tank under the bed in order to get more mileage from a fill up. My major concern is how the filler will work. My body work is not good enough to bring it through the bed wall. I have considered a tank from one of those cars that had the filler behind the license plate. Has anyone seen that done?

Listen, BC3600, I'm like you in that I didn't want to fool with a bed wall filler cap. So, I just cut a trap-door in the wood floor for the filler cap and routed a hose to the fuel tank. No doubt there are slicker ways to do this, but 'crude but effective' always seems to work for me.
