It almost looks like the emblem that they used on Brazil built trucks.

CFG61,

What you have is a hood emblem that represents a V8 engine. This specific emblem was only available on the 60-61 Chevy truck hoods.

Since the majority of the 60-61 trucks had a In-Line 6 cylinder engine, they had the simple Bowtie emblem. The simple Bowtie emblem is very common, whereas the V8 emblem is somewhat rare.

Especially rare on the half ton. In 1961 the half ton had a 283 engine available, where the BIG bolts had either the 283 or 348 available. Percentage wise, the Big Bolts had more V8s than the half-tons from the factory. The very large trucks (ie semi-tractors,etc) had this same emblem only in larger scale size.

I could not tell from your picture if this hood was a BIG Bolt or a half ton. I assume the hood is from one of the larger trucks. Was/is there an original V8 engine in your truck?

Altho LONGBOX55 maybe correct about his Brazil comment, I have never heard or read that before.

Brian

Yes, that is a V8 emblem. Let me know if you want to sell it.
