Does anyone have a good set of plans / specs for wood sideboards for a 52 3600 longbox. I have seen a few that look nice, but I don't know what is correct.

I just made mine to fit.

As far as I know, sideboards were never offered as an option, and probably weren't even made after market, except by the owner. Which opens up a world of possibility for you -- you can make whatever you like and it's no less correct (as long as your hardware is correct for the period) than anyone else's.

Lots of guys have made their own -- cruise through the Gallery (use the menu bar above) and see if any in there fit your liking or give you ideas.

Scroll down to the first pic to see a side view but the one that may help is on page 3. The verticle 2x4's are trimmed equally from each side to center in the stake pocket hole and then angle cut at the bottom to fit the angled side. The horizontal side boards fit in dado cut grooves in the vertical boards to eliminate the wobbling and looks nicer. Carriage bolts look nice on the joints but screws and carpenters glue would be fine also. Hope this helps a little.

nothing fancy but as far as i know they've been on the truck since the 50's. i've repainted the side boards since these pictures were taken, but you get the idea.
