I have a 46 with a chrome T handle on the dash. Is it for opening the fresh air vent on the hood? If it does, mine must not be connected.

Dan is this handle on the top of the dash??? Or is it under the dash?? If it is on top it should not be a T handle but a small window type crank for the windshield regulator. The cowl vent is a push pull lever under the center of the dash. Got a Picture of it??

Maybe it's a twist-lock cable for a PTO or hand throttle.

I do believe this is the passenger ejection seat release on Bond models.

The T handle is lower down on the dash and has to be for the fresh air vent. It is a push pull style control. It must not be hooked up. I can see the opening on the hood.

I know there is a crank on the top of the dash to move the window forward. It's a great feature in the fall!

"the opening on the hood"? the air vent is on the center of the cowl, and is operated with a lever/handle that's under the middle of the dash - no air vent on the hood - what you have may be a disconnected choke or throttle cable

might want to check around Brad\'s 41-46 site for more info about your year

Does the T handle "swing" forward under the dash? 'Cause that would be your cowl vent. If it is a push pull then I go with a later added choke handle, or something added later, not stock.

It's in the lower part of the dash, not under it! I'm almost positive it's for the Cowl Vent on the hood and is not hooked up.

Pretty neat if it is. I wonder if it will work on the Wife when we are riding togather! SLAP SLAP!! I need to get those thoughts out of my head.

I need to look under the dash and see if there is a lever underneath for the cowl scoop. I just assumed the T handle was for the scoop. It still leaves a mystery on what it's for.

It's just a tiny stainless or chrome, small about 1.5 to 2 inches long T handle. It pulls out, but nothing happens. It amazes me that no one else seems to have one. It's mounted on the lower part of the dash. I need to get a picture of it!

Sounds exactly like the inside door lock knob from the driver's side door. Can you send a photo

Why would they have a lock for the driver side door in the lower center of the dash! Seem too advanced for 1946.

Surely somone else has the tiny T handle. It does not look like something that's been added. I do also have the crank for the windshield some have talked about.

I need to take some pictures so everyone knows what I'm talking about!

You can perty much bet on it being an addition to the rig. Do you have a PTO on the transmission that needs an actuator? Most trucks have a push/pull for activating the PTO. How big is the cable coming off the handle and where is the other end of it?

It may be an add on, but it looks like part of the original issue.

I did notice the cowl vent has had the lever everyone talks about removed or lost. I need to see if I can get a replacement!

46Dan. Guess I was not very clear. The “T” handle that you describe sounds like the inside door lock handle on my ‘41’s driver side door. It is located directly inside of the outer door handle. I was only suggesting that the handle you describe looks the same. In the center of the dash in the area just above the ash tray you should have 4 round openings all in a row and all roughly the same size. They are ignition switch, throttle, choke, and an extra opening for a heater or other optional switch.
