Hi,

I'm still sort of new here and wanted to say hi. Here's my 1947 5 window 1 tonner. I got it off a farm in central Utah where it spent pretty much its entire life.

Sporting it's original gear, 4 spd, starter on the floor and 216 6cyl with 55k orig miles on it, it runs still. No brakes though. I drove around the block the other day and pulled the emergency brake to stop. That was funny to skid all four rear tires when stopping.

I got rid of the dump bed to some construction friends of mine and now I'm happy to say, after drawing and thinking, I decided not to hack it up and make some crazy hot rod out of it. I like it the way it is. Rusty and running.

I'm gonna use it as my tow vehicle for my classic boats. Call it a work in progress. Eventually, I'll toss a V8 in it I'm sure.

Can anyone tell me where to get the brake master cylinder rebuild kit for this? I have no brakes.

I haven't looked lately but I am pretty sure that most of the old truck suppliers carry a kit for the 1 Ton. I bought the kit but mine is too badly pitted and I am having it sleeved.

Hello Kelly and Welcome! I think the 1 ton master is the same as the 3/4 ton, but not sure. That size is readily available at Classic Parts, Jim Carter, American Classic and maybe even your friendly local auto parts store. You can research Keith Hardy's info on http://chevy.tocmp.com He has posted on there re-prints of original shop manuals, etc. Maybe somebody else will help. Good luck smile
Edit - I just flipped over there and the master cylinder is the same diameter for 3/4-ton and up. Look here .

Hi Kelly, welcome to the 'Bolt. Nice rig. Looks to be in fairly decent shape. Have fun and Merry Christmas to you.

Hey Kelly, your ton looks considerably better than mine LOL. I'm gonna keep the dump on mine, around here on the farm it'll come in real handy. I've got a 57 model 235 to put in mine, I'm gonna have to get another tranny due to mine being rusted up badly in the bottom end and of course brakes as well LOL. Have fun with it and keep it working!
