Has anyone ever seen or know if the Art Deco series trucks had roof lights as an option? While out driving I noticed an old truck behind someones garage that only had a cab and chassie. The front clip and box are missing. The windshield is split, there are two roof lights on each side of the truck, and the cab has the rounded roof similiar to the Chevy of that time. Any takes?

The '42 that I bought from RaceCarl has roof mounted clearance lights. I don't know if they are original, but they sure look old.

If I get a chance, I will take a picture of them tomorrow.

They are certainly easy enough to add. My ’41 had three that were obviously “after market”

One of these days I'll have to stop by the place and find out what it really is. It's a 1/2 or 3/4 ton whatever make it is.

Requirements depend on the year and width of the truck as to the clearence markers. My grandfathers 47 AD tractor had 3 markers and my 54 had 3 markers no sign of any on my 38 1.5

I grew up in Iowa in the 50's and at that time trucks over 3/4 ton had to have clearance lights (if I remember my driver exam test correctly). Of course after 53 years there's a slight chance the old brain has failed. I do know every big truck had them at that time.

I 'harvest' a lot of big bolts, and they seem to be 50/50 having them or not.

I never really understood the purpose of lights on the cab like that.. especially when the box behind the cab sits as high, if not higher than the cab roof. I mean, if the lights were intended to indicate the total height of the vehicle, seems like the highest point on the truck is where they should go.

I dunno.. but a '39 GMC I parted out had some sweet old lights on the cab.. old ones that probably weren't original, but were undoubetedly put on the truck shortly after it was purchased new.

I've been kind of on the fence if I should put them on my '46 2 ton. I'm really torn.. they kind of look neat.. but they also kind of look redneck.

Mine has them as well..See my signature block-the old yellow one thats in pieces still had running lights on the cab. I like em-quite a bit and will look to replace them when finished with the hot rod truck...

farmers didn't always update their trucks to the latest DOT requirements. My 38 did have markers on the forward and rear lower coorners of the grain box same with the 48 1 ton dump it also had no cab markers.

Dashriprocker got kin up in speedwell so maybe we'll see you tooling along near bean station some time.

I think they are cool. I put them on most of my old pickups. See my 70 stepside in the Gallery & also on the Stovebolt big calender.

I generally don't like cab marker lights, although on some trucks they look OK.
If you have to have them I would rather have 3 than 5.

On my truck I am thinking that I will have 3 but I will paint the housings body color. I also have blue lenses for mine, anyone tried them with blue? Have any problems with the law? Seen any blue ones, how do they look?

I use to have a '51 GMC tonner and it had 3 cab clearance lights that I believe to be factory original.

One of the problems with the cab marker lights, some were installed without proper sealant on wires and screws. The rainwater would leak into the cab and rust out the header above the windshield.
