I put my 49 on an S10 but I didn't have a good original chassis to start with. I'm happy with the S10; PS and PB. I rebuilt the S10 front end because it was an 85 and I wanted everything to be in good shape. I have a buddy who is building a 51 with the Mustang II so I'll be able to compare in the future sometime. It is my daily driver with a 350/350 but I plan to change the tranny to a 200R for overdrive. Good luck with yours.

Thats the problem with my frame when the 327 was installed "before i owned it" they cut up some of the top of the frame ??? dont know why ??? but they did and I want it to be done right I love the truck and Im also going to replace the motor with a crate 350 with TBI set up and with the bowtie heads rebuilt from the old 327 along with a 700R. I can hardly wait !!!
THANKS FOR THE INFO !!

Just my 2 cts.worth.If your going with a new crate motor and a 700R4 tranny, why not just put in an aftermarket M2 frontend.Mine is a TCI,and there are a lot of other good ones on the market,Heidts,Fatman, etc.Good luck with whatever you decide on.As far as lowering the rear TCI has a nice kit available, which includes new 5 leaf springs, mounts, shackles, shocks, spring perches for flipping the rearend, etc.
