Got another email from Jac:

Hi guys...

There's a movie getting ready to shoot in Baltimore and DC. I'm not in the office on this one, but will see you on set most likely. They're looking for cars: 50's, 60's, maybe others.

60's school bus. 60's limo.

Go ahead and send pictures if you're interested.

I think the pay will be $200 / day / vehicle.

The contact is Thom Lombardi 410 746 7334

email pix to: [email protected]

Thanks,
jac

If John hadn't posted this yet, we got to see Flags of our Fathers over the weekend and we actually saw our '49 in the shot at the very end. Right smack dab in the middle of the screen. About ths size of a postage stamp (in the crowd and far off). But it was SO COOL to see it made it through the final edit. And it was such a fun day to do this. Amazing how all this movie stuff works. So, send the fellow a pix if you've got one. Then come tell us the story!!

If you've never done this before, it's an interesting experience. My 64 was a prop in "The World's Fastest Indian" shot a coupla years ago. It got left on the cutting room floor, but my name made it to the credits. (That and a coupla bux might get me a cuppa joe at Starbucks.)

But it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me to see how movies are made and to be a part of something like that. I also got to see how the extras are herded around like cattle as opposed to the treatment the "stars" got. Wow! What a night and day difference.

I dunno if I'd do it again (prolly would) but I'm sure glad I got the chance to do it once.

Ray,

It was fun (for those who may not know the rest of the story ) and John and I said we WOULD do it again. We're going to send in a picture of the '65 GMC firetruck (hasn't made it to the gallery yet). We also have two friends with 60's CARS that John will probably contact them about it.

I just wonder if it will be Baltimore AND Washington, or one of the other. I'd rather do Baltimore.

The movie-making experience IS like nothing else. Now when I see a movie with an old car or truck I wonder who's it might be. And I wonder when they are actually DRIVING it in a movie, if the owner is driving or has to "sign off" on someone else driving.

And one other thing I've noticed, in these "old" movies ... most of the "old" vehicles look mahh-va-lous. Don't look much like something you'd really see on the road. At least I wouldn't think so.

Too cool. Definitely send 'em a picture if you are even remotely interested.

Then tell us how much fun you had!!

Hafta disagree, Sweetie -- In FOOF, the '41-'46 that was shown at the Block family farm looked like an old, worn farm truck. Only problem with that is that at the time period it was shown, it would have been a brand new truck and Mr. Block wasn't exactly a wildly successful farmer...

Also ,the big bolts shown at the loading dock scene (building were Rene Gagnon worked as a janitor) were pretty realistic-looking work trucks.

smile (I'm gonna pay for this...)
