I'm doing a restoration on my 57 3100 and would like to find a replacement hood to save myself a ton of body work. I know that the hood for 1957 is slightly different from the 55 (2nd gen) and 56 due to the spears down each side. How about the 58 and 59? Is there much difference between them and the 57 besides the obvious emblems? Want to figure out my options before I head out to swap meets and salvage yards.

The 5-6-7 hoods use the same mounting, and will directly interchange.

As I noted, though, '55-'57 are interchangeable, only the bumps on the top are different.

I guess I mis-spoke ... cuz it was gettin dark and rainy so I didn't wanna go out and look  mea culpa I had a 59 hood sittin on the 57 panel for awhile cuz it was handy, w/ hinges attached, between 55 fenders that were just held on w/ a couple bungees - guess I didn't pay attention to the fit so today I had a chance to do some checkin among the numerous hoods in the yard [make good covers for parts] - the early and late hoods are identical at the back, including the hinge mount points [on the hood] - they're also exactly the same length, but the front of the later hoods is 2" narrower than the early ones, with a subtle curve along the side to make up the difference so the way to put the later hood on would be to put the whole 58/9 front clip on, which has other problems Bill | | |
