Wow Josh...You have a awesome dad! I got a matching pen and pencil set for my graduation. Not that I'm complaining.

For my graduation, my dad gave me a ride to the Armed Forces Induction Center in Oakland, CA. And it wasn't even in a 'bolt!

Welcome to the 'bolt, did it run when it was parked?

Nice truck Josh! You're going to have a lot of fun with that bolt. That is the second old bolt I've seen over the years with such a gash in the hood. Years ago an old mechanic told me that it was not uncommon for the fan to come apart on these trucks and pieces go flyin' out through the hood! Anyway, those hoods come apart pretty easily if you find a right half. It will bolt together without a problem. Ask me how I know.........

Well here is the story behind it. One day the man who owned it was driving it to a field to work, it was a nice day and as he pulled into the field the brakes puked and he ran into the combine and hence the gash in the hood and it ripped the top of the radiator off so he parked it in the back trees along with 100+ other 1917 to 1960's vehicles well we caught wind he was crushing them all (bad Divorce needed all the money he could get but refused to sell them) well we where good friends with him and he had this 50 out there along with 4 other 47-53 chevy pickups so my dad took this one and took 3 raditors 4 doors 2 hoods but this truck was redone some time back and had alot better parts than the rest so no other parts where needed except we took a origanl Fram Dry air cleaner so we could get rid of the oil bath. We also took a few hard to find things. Also the pics where taken last winter. It was last driven in 1990 so even though it was redone in 1980 it still needs help but not as bad. The guy still owns a Perfectly restored 1937 Chevrolet Pickup his dad left him along with two very early Harley Davidsons.

Edited to add I bought the rims and hubcaps for 40 dollars as the cheap white spokes were rusted from sitting with four flat tires but the guy who parked was smart enough to put it on blocks and puting oil in all the lugnuts befor parking god bless him for that. And dare i say my dad paid 400 dollars for it. We found out recently that the Opitonal Grill Guard is worth half that Wow that was the deal of a lifetime.

I dont understand why the old boy wouldnt sell the vehicles? but had them crushed.. he surely could have gotten more for them by selling them? must have been spite?

At least you got to save yours, and a bunch of parts too...

Regarding the fans coming apart, that just happened last year on my 58, but it didn't go through the hood.
