The 'Glyde wasn't used in trucks until the '60s. I'd run it with the 235 and Hydro just to be different.

The stock auto was the old cast-iron Hydra-Matic (heavy). This was the unit that B and M Racing Trannies made their reputation on. It didn't have a torque multiplier like the later trannies, but it was pretty stout. If you have a Power-Glide, then someone has already done a transplant.
