Seller says it has the original factory paint job. Note the two beltline stripes, a subject which has been up for discussion here before. What do you all think - original or not? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chev...ryZ5348QQihZ011QQitemZ320025116930QQrdZ1

First, that is a '51 not a 50. (Wing windows, turn down handles and no driver's cowl vent.) And I always laugh when I hear, 'All original, 235 engine' | | | | Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 454 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 454 | The ADs did not have the raised Chevrolet letters on the tailgate painted white, they were body color.

The surface on the front sheet metal is not that of a factory finish. My pinstripes were not that wide and the truck has been lowered.
I would guess that the dash has been butchered. | | | | Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 272 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 272 | Good points! I questioned the wind wings myself but didn't notice the GMC fender and no driver side cowl vent.

Someone went to the trouble of fog-lights, visor, spotlight and lowered the truck. | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,971 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,971 | It looks like "original" has two different meanings these days just like "restored" does.
Too many people restore cars with bigger engines and newer transmissions and a different color than the vehicle came with. | | | | Joined: May 2003 Posts: 328 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: May 2003 Posts: 328 | Is it just me or do the wheel openings look too large?
Never hold your farts in. They travel up your spine and into your brain...that is where crappy ideas come from.

The original pinstripe (and I stand by my assertion that 1 stripe is correct) was on that beltline, not below it.
And is that his idea of a minor rust hole? | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | Originally posted by Phil 1953 GMC: Is it just me or do the wheel openings look too large? Could be that the tires are too small too. Anybody else notice the '54 rear bumper? With guards??

Within hours of this original post almost every detail of what is wrong with this truck is pointed out. And I believe that the posters were hoping for more pictures to find other things that they know about. ('Oh, that brakeline fastener isn't stock.') And I never get the feeling that it is meant to be mean or arrogant, it just feels like it this is something that is a part of us. I am sure that everyone on this thread has watched the eyes of our loved ones and friends glass over when we start talking like this. It sure is nice to have some time with folks that know and love these trucks like I do.
