Just wanted to say hi. Someone on another board sent me this site to check out.I bought a 66 c10 short step side pu about a month ago. Just gave it a 350/350 combo and will add a TPI sometime soon. My truck allready had the 5 bolt thing with **** breaks allready done and was lowered in fr. by cutting spring. I plan on redoing that with drop spindals soon. My plan is to turn the truck into a daily and shop truck. I also have a 63 Shasta camper I will pull and it will be a push truck at some of the vintage dirt track races. I do mostly metal fab. work on race cars and street rods for a living. Some of my other cars right now are a 34 chevy tub, a 48chevy coupe and a 55 f100 pu. Well thats about it for an intro. Welcome Steve! We accept most all HAMBer's, (especially those that like old trucks, old campers and old race cars) just remember we try to use better language here. No slinging of the f'inheimer on the Stovebolt. Oh, and O/T posts are fine down at the Greasy Spoon. Have fun, thanks for the intro.

Howdy.... I'm still not sure I'm posting this message correctly but here goes... I'm brand new to the "truck" thing although I've been wanting a '49 to '53 Chevy for as long as I can remember.. For the past ten years or so I've been buying and restoring vintage MGs.. But, now I have a line on a '49 3100 and want some of your help in determining it's worth... It is a complete and original truck..not running and apparantly has not run for quite some time.. It has plenty of surface rust, but the only "rust through" spots I can find are at the bottom of the cab behind the doors on both sides..The windows will all have to be replaced.. starter is not in the truck, but is laying on the front seat...no serious body damage.. just rust.. I am still negotiating with the guy, but I believe I can buy the truck for $1,000...Anyone who can help me decide if this is a fair price.. please respond... Thanks, jerry P. Cram

Hi Jerry,
Take a good look at the frame where the front of the right rear spring attaches to the frame. Also check out the frame between the cab and the bed. If the frame is sound, and the title is clear, the truck as you describe it would be well worth $1,000.00 in my neck of the woods, perhaps a little more.

Unfortunately, here in Iowa, everybody needs fenders. All of mine are scrap. I just plan on having to buy repros when I put one together. I may have a painted bumper you can have, but no good chrome ones though. I'm building my 63 K20 right now, chassis is done and I'm about to start in on the bodywork as soon as I wrap up some summer projects that I'm in the middle of.

Let me know if there's anything else you are looking for. I have tons of little stuff, even some doors and hoods,etc.

Welcome you newbies.

If you haven't done this already, we need you to check out ordering a Chevy restoration kit . We're doing a bit of a *test* to see how goes it with getting them from GM. You'll see from the responses posted in the Tip that for most, it goes pretty well. Pretty quick. And some helpful info.
