For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 1,028 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 1,028 | I have posted some new pics on my web shots page. Click the link below and look at the album titled "Engine Before and After"
I know the colors are not quite exact but this is a parade and Sunday driver not a show truck (besides from what I have heard Chevy was not that specific about their colors in the fifties anyway).
I just had a successfull test run to see if I put it all back together right. Fired right up and seems to run fine ( a little smoke but not bad for having sat for an unknown number of years)

The engine looks great. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 310 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 310 | That's looking nice, worth the trouble anyway. Did you have her running yet? That must be one of the best moments of the restoration, can't wait till my 4 will fire the first time, but it might be far away yet, everything ceased and hard to take apart without wrecking. No cracks found in the blok yet, but I can't be sure either. Keep up the good work, the hard part is over, now you just have to make her beautiful | | | | | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 1,028 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 1,028 | Thanks...I did get her running and she sounds great. I have to do some fine tuning but all seems right so far.
Your right it was quite a kick to hear her fire up. I can't wait to get to work on the cab. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 1,158 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 1,158 | looks good to me. Don't sweat the colors. You'll never get an exact match on a 50 year old color anyhow. As far as I'm concerned, so long as you like it, that's all that matters. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | Rustbucket, wow, that is really nice! The before and after photos really show the difference. Very nice work you have done there! | | | | | Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 110 Member | | Member Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 110 |

Do you think these old gals were that good looking when they first came off the assembly line???? Talk about a makeover!!! | | | | | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 1,028 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 1,028 | I don't think they looked anywhere near this good. Problem is not I have to wash my hands everytime I want to touch something for fear I will get her dirty. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 310 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 310 | | | |
