I'm looking to get a little basic knowledge about cleaning/sanding/priming/painting straight body panels. No clue.
Looking for basic info on auto trannies. No clue.
Any recommendations about where I should start? No luck on Ebay, not much time spent on Amazon.

Your local public library probably has a lot of books on the subjects you mention.

I've tried - thye don't have barely anything at all...

i found way too many books at my local Border's, and they were just the ones on the shelf. This web site has much info from those thats done it. take time and learn the search functions. good luck. it's all easy.

Motors or Chilton's Manuals are good for mechanical work as is the shop manual.

Take a couple of weeks vacation and go to work for a local body shop. No better school than the School of Hard Knocks

and browse around... lots and lots of information and links to articles about all kinds of stuff.

for transmission stuff, look for 4x4 and off road type sites, you can usually find a lot of information about most truck trannies through those peoples.. since they like to switcha nd swap everything around to fit the project at hand.
